Design Inspiration

Happy Valentine’s Day! Okay, not quite yet, but it’s right around the corner. This sweet crochet Valentine’s doll pattern was inspired by the classic Necco Sweetheart message candies. The different colors used represent each of the traditional flavors: cherry, banana, wintergreen, lime, orange, and grape. Valentino will make a lovely addition to any amigurumi collection. Will you be his valentine?

Cut a few pieces of color D yarn (approximately 2 inches each)

Separate the individual strands of yarn (unraveling mine gave me 3 strand per piece)

Sew 1 individual strand through 1 stitch around the outside of the main hair piece. Tie each strand in its stitch (double knot to secure, but don’t pull too hard or the strand may separate)

Cut at an angle to desired length and style hair per preference (I went for a skater-type look)

Use a whip stitch to sew the pieces of the hoodie together (leave tail as the second hoodie string)

Using color G, start in either corner of the hoodie body and sc around the entire outside of the hoodie, finish off, and leave long tail

Place the hoodie onto the doll and use the tail from the previous step to sew the sides of the hoodie together (starting from the bottom and moving up for 3 rows), finish off, and cut tail so that is resembles a zipper pull
