Crochet Slytherplaid Blanket Scarf

The Crochet Slytherplaid Blanket Scarf is an intermediate pattern using half double crochet and color changes to create a beautiful plaid blanket scarf.

Design Inspiration

Better be. . . Slytherin! Yes, this plaid blanket scarf is inspired by none other than the coolest house at Hogwarts. I designed this pattern to be my ideal Slytherin scarf: the one I’d imagine myself wearing as a Hogwarts alumnus. This piece combines several shades of green with silver and cream to create a beautiful fall and winter look for everyone from muggle to minister of magic.

Stitching

Stitching is worked using two strands of yarn and is worked through every other row across the length of the project (see photo below)

When sewing through leave approximately 9 inches of yarn on either side. This leaves room or adjustment from blocking.

Color D: stitches 1, 3, 13, 15, 23, 31, 33, 43, 45, 53, 61, 63, 73, 75

Color E: stitches 6-7, 9-10, 36-37, 39-40, 66-67, 69-70

Tassels

After blocking, trim loose threads approximately half an inch from the desired length. I trimmed mine at 8 inches.

The majority of loose threads are located near each other. Gather up 4 strands (example: strands from stitches 1 and 3) and knot them together. For stitches 23 and 53, sew an added strand cut from your remaining yarn through the stitch and knot together with the original loose threads.
