Crochet Oak Round (Treesacret Afghan)

The Crochet Oak Round is the seventh round designed for my Treesacret afghan project and showcases herringbone half double crochet.

Design Inspiration

The Celtic zodiac has multiple iterations, including trees and animals. The ancient druids believed that a person’s birth correlated with a specific tree related to lunar cycles and that correlation contributed to one’s personality traits. My Treesacret afghan project incorporates each of these thirteen trees into one stitch sampler blanket. For the oak tree, I chose a simple stitch to create a bark-like design. Oak (June 10 – July 7) is considered the Equalizer and embodies generosity, courage, and loyalty.
