Crochet Deva Snake Amigurumi (Celtic Zodiac)

The Crochet Deva Snake Amigurumi is a cool doll pattern designed to represent the Celtic zodiac snake sign.

Design Inspiration

Similar to the Greek and Chinese zodiacs, one version of the Celtic zodiac has animal signs. The Celtic animal zodiac is based on lunar cycles, so it has thirteen signs. Deva is the second amigurumi of this zodiac collection and represents the snake. For the snake design, I used workout gear to inspire the outfit. The stripes on the leggings represents the belly of the snake while the hood contains details such as eyes, fangs, and scale patterns. The Snake (February 18 – March 17) embodies passion, communication, and wisdom.

Strands

To create strands for the hair, cut equal lengths of yarn (the longer the cut, the more room for trimming later).

Separate each cut of yarn into individual strands (4 per cut).

Straighten the strands using a flat iron on low heat (I set my iron to 5, but do a test strand)

Sew 2 strands together through the scalp in an ascending pattern (row 7 to 6, row 5 to 4, and row 3 to 2) all the way around.

After adding all the strands, sew the scalp to the head through round 8.

Trim and style as desired (I used an ouchless removal hair elastic for the ponytail).
