‘Tis the season. . .to celebrate the 4th of July. This festive crochet garland creates fun hanging decor for celebrating. It also matches perfectly with my previous pattern: Crochet Starspangle Mini Throw.

A festive crochet garland pattern that makes it quick and simple to add patriotic charm to your home. 

Materials

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver (weight 4 – medium)
Color A – Soft Navy (7oz /198g, 364yds/333m) – 1 skein
Color B – Cherry Red (7oz /198g, 364yds/333m) – 1 skein
Color C – Soft White (7oz /198g, 364yds/333m) – 1 skein

Hook: G/6 – 4.25mm

Finished Dimensions: Pennant – 4.25 length x 5.00 width, Star – 2.25 length x 2.50 width

st – stitch
sk – skip
sp – space
sl st – slip stitch

Notes

Each beginning ch 2 counts as a double crochet.

Crochet Starspangle Garland – Instructions

Pennant

In color A or B, make a magic circle

Round 1: ch 2, dc 11 into the magic circle, sl st into the top of the beginning ch 2 (12)

Round 2: ch 2, dc 1 in 2 sts, *[dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the next st, dc 1 in 3 sts, repeat from * once, [dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the last st, sl st into the top of the beginning ch-2 (19)

Round 3: ch 2, turn work, dc 1 for 2 sts, *[dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the ch2-sp, dc 1 for 7 sts, repeat from * once, [dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the ch2-sp, dc 1 for 4 sts, sl st into the top of the beginning ch 2 (33)

Round 4: ch 2, turn work, dc 1 for 6 sts, [dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the ch2-sp, dc 1 for 7 sts, dc 2 in the same st for 4 sts, [dc 2, ch 2, sc 1] in the ch2-sp, sc 1 for 11 sts, [sc 1, ch 2, dc 2] in the ch2-sp, dc 2 in the same st for 4 sts, sl st into the top of the beginning ch 2 (38 dc, 13 sc)

Finish off and weave in ends

In color C, make a magic circle

Round 1: ch 2, dc 14 into the magic circle, sl st into the top of the beginning ch 2 (15)

Round 2: ch 1, sc 1 in the next st, *[hdc 1, dc 1, ch 2, dc 1, hdc 1] in the next st, sc 1 in the next 2 sts, repeat from * three times, [hdc 1, dc 1, ch 2, dc 1, hdc 1] in the last st, sl st into the beginning ch 1 (10 sc, 10 hcd, 10 dc)

Finish off and weave in ends

Make as many of each pattern as desired and weave an appropriate length of yarn through each piece to create the garland
