The Baby Countdown Blanket is a granny square project following baby’s size through each week of gestation (this post: crochet blanket join).
Design Inspiration
The final piece of the project is here: joining! Because of the many shapes and colors used amongst the squares, I chose to use gray yarn and a simple join to accentuate the fruits and veggies. The join method I chose is called the slip stitch join. There are many video tutorial options available via YouTube that may help make this join easier to execute. Thank you all for joining me on this project journey. I’ve truly enjoyed creating each piece and learning multitudes along the way. Happy making!

Notes
I made three extra granny squares in this gray color to separate the countdown by trimesters and achieve the layout I wanted for this blanket.
Brackets [ ] indicate directions worked in the same st. For example, sc 5 means sc 1 in five sts; [sc 5] means sc 5 in the same st.
Beginning ch 4 counts as a treble crochet

Lay the squares to be joined next to each other. Beginning with the right square, work hook through the bottom loop of the corner tc. When you reach the end of a joined set ch 1 and continue to join the next set of squares. Each join should be 16 sl st.

For the edging, start in any of the four corner tc,
Round 1: sl st into the tc, ch 1, sc in the same st, continue to sc across the side. In the next corner tc, [sc, hdc,sc]. Continue to sc around the project, working corners as indicated. In the final corner tc, [sc, hdc], sl st into the beginning sc.
